Get your popcorn at the ready, Alfred Hitchcock is back on the big screen this weekend, or at least he will be via Anthony Hopkins! Never ones to shy away, we will be in the queue ready for suspense and drama as well as a peek at the ’60s inspired fashion that stars of the film Scarlett Johansson and Jessica Biel will be rocking. The previous female leads in Hitchcock’s classic films like Notorious, Vertigo, Birds and of course Psycho have been a great source of vintage fashion inspiration for years but as the heroins get revisited by the stars of today, we thought it was about time to get channel the old school Hollywood glamour once again!

Scarlett Johansson and Jessica Biel have both been at the hair curlers in a bid to achieve the glamour that looked so effortless on the foxy females of the ’60s and Motel is on hand to help you too! As we all know looking glam is not effortless (boo) but if your outfit screams leading lady then you’re half way there. Stars of films that defined Hitchcock like Birds and Vertigo, Kim Novack and Tippi Hedren were way ahead in the fashion credentials. Take inspiration from their looks with our Monochrome trend that is already huge this season. Black and white is a colour scheme that has helped women look chic and graceful for generations, and as they say ‘if it aint broken… why fix it’?!

Once you’ve got your monochrome sorted the base is set for a bright red lipstick or nail varnish to give any outfit that Hollywood, alluring look. If monochrome isn’t your thing you might want to look at the shapes rather than colours that Hitchcock’s ladies adored. Add a belt with a chunky buckle to one of our Catalina Off Shoulder Skater Dresses or simply choose a ready made stunning silhouette in the form of our Patricia Belted Pencil Dress. Wear with pointed stilettos and a patent clutch for irresistible grown up glamour.

Recently Tumblr has been generating several trends and one of our favourites has to ‘Indie India’. Influenced by spirituality and 90′s rave culture, this trend mixes grunge and boho and hails mid 90′s Gwen Stefani as the ultimate style icon. Think bindis, dip dye hair, henna hand tattoos and elephant motifs. This trend is all about mixing it up and throwing it together, crossing eclectic eastern iconography and prints, with western urban street style. Wear gold jewellery with a vintage embroidered jacket, and leopard leggings. Not sure you can do it? Why not try the Dana Off The Shoulder in dip dye or the Rock N Rose Cross Necklace just to ease in to this eclectic trend, need some inspiration, check out our favourite tumblr images <3
