Be bold and bare your midriff seems to be the message this season as seen on the catwalks of Miu Mui, Mara Hoffman, Balenciaga and countless others. Here at Motel we’re not shy of a crop top or two so this is music to our ears!

The popular trend first hit the headlines back in the 80′s with Madonna (controversially as ever) donning a sheer mesh number for a music video. Scandalous! The 90′s were also not to be without this adaptable separate with many style icons of the day such as Gwen Stefani, Britney Spears, Courtney Love (and the entire cast of friends) sporting one. The high street was awash with cute tie tops and grunge inspired long sleeved numbers. Then suddenly for the Noughties we hid our middles away!

Back with a vengeance for 2013! Believe it or not crops can work on a variety of figures, and it’s all about working the trend the best way for you. A brilliantly versatile piece, work the layer trend by teaming crops or bralettes under semi opaque mesh. Alternatively combine a short crop with a high waist A-line skirt or disco pant and show off that narrow waist.

Skin is in for 2013, from oversized vest tops to lacy bralettes, everyone’s in ‘em. A favourite look for SS13 in the Motel camp is the “matchy matchy” look with printed separates worn together for an updated twin-set and pearls vibe! There were fashionistas aplenty at Coachella festival but a few celebrities stood out from the fashionable crowd with their show stopping festival attire. Motel were there at the Belve Music Lounge in our exclusive suite where loads of stylish music loving celebs came to hang out and have a nosy at our hot new spring/summer range. We spotted loads of cute and colourful bralettes on the style savvy girls strutting around the festival as well as flirty floral dresses and super duper short shorts. Catch us again this weekend at the second instalment of Coachella where we will be back to give you more Motel goodness with special goodie bags and sweet treats.

Today is International Women’s Day – yes that’s right, a whole day to celebrate all that’s wonderful about all us gorgeous women! To celebrate here’s some of our favourite ladies who have influenced our style over the past year: Adele, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Lana Dey Ray, Jessie J… the list goes on! Girl power!
