Fashion graduate and music obsessed blogger Robyn headed to Reading Festival at the weekend! Here’s her account of all the bands and festival style…

While Reading Festival may not commonly be noted as one of the most eclectic on the British summer circuit, it certainly does have something to offer for everybody. From heavy scene bands such as Death From Above 1979 to sweetly enrapturing indie by Noah and the Whale to chart toppers such as The Vaccines, there is plenty of choice to tease even the most hardened of music fans between sets.

This years festival was an endurance test for the wardrobe too. While there was the usual wellies for rain, layers for warmth and sunglasses for hiding hangovers, other trends seeped through along with the continual rain.

Friday saw an indie crowd ready for a riot with Metronomy, White Lies, The Vaccines and The Horrors all on the bill and looking perfectly polished. Floral jumpsuits were worn with simple jackets and retro cool bum bags for festival comfort and versatility topped with headbands for a vintage nod. Aztec prints paired with denim cut offs and Doc Martens was also a hot look while others paired simple dresses and skirts with hats and shirts for understated festival cool; a look that was set by the dapper bands that played.

A much sunnier and drier Saturday saw festival goers adorn their brightest garments making loud floral prints the look of the day. Reflecting the weather instead of the pin sharp looks of Alison Mosshart from The Kills and Alice Glass of Crystal Castles, who both amazed audiences, the Reading crowd looked more like they were on a tropical holiday than camping in a Berkshire field. One of the biggest indie acts of the last ten years, The Strokes, headlined with infectious rifts inducing the biggest sing along set of the weekend.
