One of our favourite girl bands of the moment Stooshe recently popped into our show room to say hey! They were eager to check out all of our brand new looks for their upcoming shows and events so the girls paid us a visit between a hectic schedule of press interviews this week. They were on their way to get ready for a magazine awards ceremony that very night so of course they came to Motel for some style inspiration!
All of the girls went away with some of their favourite pieces to match their funky eclectic style and will be rocking Motel at all of the hottest festivals this summer. Courtney, the youngest member of the band, was loving the Crop Sweat in Tie Dye Print so will be channelling her inner hippy chic. Alex. whose style is described by her band mates as ‘ladylike and glam’. was a fan of our summery prints and will be looking as sweet as sugar in the Nessy Dress in Marble Pink and the Catalina Off Shoulder Dress in Paisley Blue.
The final member of the band, flame haired Karis, describes her style as ‘girlie and playful but with an urban edge’ and so she fell in love with our Paisley print and will be rocking this alongside bang-on-trend camo in our Delphine Jacket and Jolene Dress. Now that the girls are set to look hot this summer with their new Motel pieces, all efforts will be focused on the release of their debut album ‘London with the Lights On’ which will be dropping on the 27th of May. No doubt that our summer playlist will be bursting with more of their catchy tunes, including the retro Slip, out this week. We can’t wait!
The latest iconic seasonal print we are crushing on here at Motel is the new Paisley Collection. Referencing the key catwalk trend for paisley and ‘china pattern’ style prints, and as seen on designers from Stella McCartney to JW Anderson, it’s the trend to bring on the return of colour to your wardrobe.
Indian heritage introduced the curling, swirling print of paisley, with henna-inked skin and jewelled embellishments. Back when hipster meant hippie, the free-loving babes of the ’60s and ’70s were the first to adopt this trend, strutting around in their sky high platforms and denim bell-bottoms. Pretty paisley prints were worn by the coolest of the hippie clan in soft pastels and earthy tones on shirts and scarves.
Spied during fashion-week, we saw more bright paisley prints. Pair a flash of paisley with a killer heel and a bright clutch for an ultimately cool look this spring, or add leather accessories to toughen up the feminine pattern. The print can be worn to clash with neon brights or a monochrome palette so you can sample the trend at your level.
So the new vintage-inspired Paisley Collection at Motel is your saviour this fashion season, with its delicate charm adding interest and intrigue to any look. Dungarees are RED hot at the moment so the Demi Dungaree Playsuit is a fresh way to bring this print up to date with a babydoll edge. Go matchy-matchy with a ’50s vibe in the high-waisted Mizzy Shorts paired with the off the shoulder Dana Crop Top. Off the shoulder styles are another way to bring this trend right into Spring/Summer with Motel’s cult Catalina and Debbie Dresses.
This week Motel has been a favourite in the press once again! Star magazine was loving lots of our prints that are perfect for summer including Paisley, Aztec and Pyramid. The fashion hunters at Star were watching out for the hottest high street brands in this week’s edition and our Lomas Playsuit in Neon Aztec Pink caught their eye. Not that we can blame them of course as this super fierce jumpsuit gives will give you a neat, modern silhouette with a high round neckline and nipped in waist in a silky feel Rayon material. They were also loving (as so many of you are!) the Demi Dungaree Playsuit in oh-so-pretty Paisley. This is not the first time our bang on trend Paisley has made it into the press due to it’s cute and playful print that is sure to be a hit at festivals this year. You can also get your hands on our Baseball Sequined Top for a relaxed style or try the runway favourite pyramid print in items such as the Babydoll Dress, Jordan Jeans or Bonnie Crop Top.
