This summer has been jam packed with sporting events and now the Olympics are over we only have one more event, the Paralympics, to keep us cheering on Great Britain! Here at Motel we have been loving the Sports trend running alongside the events and have been rocking our Motel Union Jack dress throughout! Not wanting to forget the trend straight away our girls at the Motel Bristol HQ headed to Bath Costume museum to have a look round their current exhibition ‘Sports and Fashion’.

The exhibition examines the connection between sportswear and fashion by exhibiting examples of past sportswear alongside modern fashions and highlighting fashions continual inspiration from sport. Highlights include 1920′s tennis dresses along with a Park Tobogganing suit from 1880′s. A fascinating exhibition and the perfect antidote to the Olympic blues, on the return to Bristol it was decided we wouldn’t hang up our crop tops and cycle shorts just yet! We raided our sporty inspiration folder…

This autumn we are so inspired by ’90s flashes of sporty stripes, high roll-necks and racer back detailing, all adding that chic sports twist. The new Zabby Turtle Neck Dresses come in a racy red to be teamed with gold jewellery and flatform trainers, or a statement white stripe on black to streamline your silhouette. The new Ellen Dress has racing stripes after Sporty Spice’s heart and a curved sweetheart neckline – add a high ponytail and gym socks and you will forget your Olympic blues for future fashion loves!

Team GB are proving absolutely unstoppable at the Olympics this year! Here at Motel we love the events and have been lusting over the amazing Olympic nails of the athletes! The Union Jack has been everywhere this summer from street party to buntings to Stella McCartney’s Olympic designs, and it has been no different at Motel! We are loving this summer of sport and can’t wait to start cheering on Team GB and showing our support the Motel way! We’ll have our legs out in the sun wearing our Union Jack Zoe Dress and painting our nails red, white and blue whilst cheering on our favourite gymnast Louis Smith ;)
