HYACINTH AND BLACK STRIPES NAIL TUTORIAL

February 23rd, 2012 — 3:16pm

Hi, my name is Emily from Emily’s Nail files and I’m going to show you how to create Motel Rock’s striking Hyacinth and Black Striped Print on your nails! The perfect accessory to any Motel Rocks outifit, these eye-catching nails are easy to do at home. All you need is: Purple polish, Black polish, Top coat, Base coat, and Scotch tape.

Make sure you start with a slick of base coat to protect your nail from weakening and staining. Then take your favourite deep purple polish and apply two even coats, followed by a topcoat

After your topcoat is COMPLETELY dry, you can cut some small strips of scotch tape. These will be stuck onto the nail and act as a stencil when creating the black stripes. Your purple base must be completely dry to prevent the tape pulling up the polish when you peel it off later. The use of tape ensures neat, crisp lines for that professional looking finish! Cut about three thin strips of tape for each nail. Lay the strips across the nail in the stripe pattern, ensuring they are smoothed down.

Once they are stuck on where you would like them, paint the entire nail in your black polish, even over the taped areas.

While the black polish is still wet, peel off your tape strips in a quick, smooth motion as you go along.

You will be left with neat, purple and black stripes once all the tape is removed! Add another layer of topcoat to smooth out the design and protect your awesome Motel Rock’s inspired manicure from chips!

Tune in next week for another Motel Rocks inspired manicure tutorial!
