Pop beauties Little Mix have been breaking into the USA on their American tour and of course they packed their Motel favourites to wear. Their statement style is a huge part of the Little Mix vibe and the girls have been flaunting their favourite Motel prints in each state they visit. Leigh-Anne made her statement in the WTF Tee from our tee-licious collection of vintage inspired tshirts, touching on the current pop art trend with perfection. Jesy chose the Delphine Jacket with leather-look sleeves to mix textures and jazz up a classic black tee, adding style to comfort for the non-stop interviews.
No stranger to prints, Perrie mixed double Paisley Prints with the off shoulder Dana Crop Top and high waisted Mizzy Shorts - bring on spring! And little muffin Jade posed in the Penny Dress, standing out in bold black and white stripes but staying sweet in the babydoll shape. The girls are sure to take over the world soon, one fashion statement at a time!

This month we have been featured in cult pop mag Nylon! They are featuring our Medusa Faux Leather Skater Dress in White amongst must-have items from their style pages. The Medusa Dress fits in perfectly paired with neutrals and blacks, the studded waist giving it the ultimate grunge twist. Whites are HUGE this spring summer so this slick pleather number is just the ticket to look bang on trend; wear it with statement shoes as styled in Nylon for a new season update. The ’60s will always have a memorable stamp on the fashion timeline and with the hippy movement embracing peace, love and psychedelic music, we figured it was just about time we looked back at the ‘free love’ era and got inspired by the wash of tie dye and paisley prints. After all, you can never go wrong with popping some round sunnies on á la John Lennon and a few flowers in your hair! We are excited to wear our new season daisy print pieces like the Toppy Dress and Maxi Skirt to let out our inner flower power and of course are already strumming guitar and making daisy chains in paisley prints!
Over one thousand of you entered the Motel Illustration Contest 2013 and after much deliberation over the astounding amount of incredible entries, the judges from Motel, Staedtler, and top illustrator Laura Callaghan can reveal the top 10 submissions! Which do you think shows the coolest, most creative twist on our cult prints and designs? All finalists have won a £50 Motel Gift Voucher and a host of Staedtler goodies, but only one will be the crowned the winner and receive the grand prize of a £250 Motel wardrobe and Staedtler sets! Congratulations to all finalists and thank you to all entrants, the talent was overwhelmingly strong! The winner will be announced next week on Facebook so stay tuned.
We are aaaall about the 90′s here at Motel HQ at the moment. It’s our favorite trend of the season and currently our muse is 90′s teen mag Sassy Magazine. Often hailed ‘The Greatest Teen Mag Of All Time’ it was any 90′s girls must-have read! Filled with dating how-to’s and often radically controversial pieces, Sassy magazine was a revolutionary publication for its time.
Sassy magazine was the go-to place for girls needing advice, tips and tricks on all things fashion, beauty and gossip – there were no blogs back in those days! The fashion pages were filled with alternative and grunge obsessed trends, featuring cute skater skirts paired with Dr. Martens, with style advice from bodacious babes. They discovered supermodel/actress/designer Chloe Sevigny, whom the fashion department spotted on the street and hired as an intern! A coming of age magazine that still holds a place in many a early ’90s teen’s heart, we are still reading back issue today for future inspiration.

This time of year always calls for some home baking, no matter how culinary challenged you may be! Not only were the catwalks full of colour-popping goodness but the streets of fashion week were flooded with bold and bright colours. Rising star Tich is a 19 year old singer/song writer and we just can’t get enough of her at Motel right now. She has already toured with Paolo Nutini, Pixie Lott, Olly Murs AND Justin Bieber, and played at some of last year’s biggest music festivals. She became an online singing sensation gaining support from the likes of the One Direction lads, and recently co-wrote one of her most popular songs Breathe In Breathe Out with Jo-Bro Nick Jonas. Tich also happens to be a huge Motel Rocks fan and picked out the Bonnie Pow Crop Top in her latest hit Dumb! The song is about breaking up with her boyfriend when she shouldn’t have; it’s an awesome pop tune and we’ve got it on repeat!

Motel has recently returned from a trip to visit our friends across the pond, stopping off at New York, Las Vegas and LA! We have had a crazy, busy and exciting time visiting all of our fans in America and couldn’t wait to show our holiday snaps with you all. The hype for our US tour was huge and now that it is over, we are glad we can re-live it through this snapshot of our time there!
New York was first on our list and we went all-out tourist, taking in the sights of Times Square, the Empire State Building, Radio City Music Hall and so much more. We loved the busy streets of New York and were hyped to bring even more Motel to the fashion savvy fans there.
Whilst in the US Motel also popped in to see some of our friends at the hottest fashion magazines. We found time between all the star spotting and sight-seeing to visit the headquarters of some of your favourite mags and life long Motel lovers like Glamour, Teen Vogue and Lucky.
We then headed to Las Vegas for the Pool Trade Show where we set up shop amongst the best emerging and fashion forward brands. Pool Trade Show is the leading art and design driven fashion trade show and we got to show off all of our future AW13 prints and styles, and scout for the hottest up-coming trends this year!
Hollywood was our final stop as we browsed the flea markets for vintage inspiration and strolled down Melrose to visit Cobrasnake for bubble backpacks and Buffalo trainers! The LA vibes got us in the spirit of summer and we were California dreaming all the way home…
