Here at Motel we are dedicated to giving you the top news from LFW and after spending so much time snapping all the gorgeous street stylers we almost forgot what we came for… the shows! We were fortunate enough to be invited to several shows but our two favourites had to be Bora Aksu and Corrie Nielsen!
American born Corrie was the talk of last seasons fashion week, so we were very excited for what this show had to offer! The collection was all about volume; featuring billowing sleeves and oversized outerwear against an affluent palette of silvery cream and light gold. Elements of the colours reminded us of our very own Annali dress, which we know will take us through to S/S13. Inspired by Oscar Wilde’s Dorian Grey, this collection was full of illusions, it was elegant and striking and had us all talking about how these garments would inspire the high street trends for next year!
Next was Bora Aksu; ‘To take you forward we must first take you back his show notes read, a nod to his inspiration and the meaning behind his collections title ‘Modern Queen’. We saw models glide down the catwalk in oversized crowns made from textured knit accompanied by regal music in a soft yet dramatic show. The colour palette was pastel focused and the garments were multi layered and full of texture with minimal accessories. We felt lost in Royal fantasy watching this show with, feminine designs containing swirling florals and printed dresses, this collection was one we were on the edge of our seats for!
