MOTEL HITS V FESTIVAL 2012!
>> BACK TO HOMEPAGE
There’s a famous quote in which Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters analyzed the UK Festival scene. He described V as being for ‘clean people’. We’re not complaining, and would have to agree that it’s definitely more glam than grunge, particularly when compared to most other events on our festival calendar! This weekend’s baking weather also meant that for once the array of colourful Hunter wellies on display were chosen purely for their fashion credentials, rather than survival and necessity. According to Tom of Kasabian each festival has a ‘different texture’ too, and Team Motel Rocks would conclude that V’s 2012 texture was a glistening one – thanks to heatwave induced sweat beads, fake tan glows and a whole lot of studded/embellished fashion!

The joy of V is that there is always something for everyone. Couples canoodled to James Morrison’s husk and Snow Patrol’s lover’s anthems. Hungover moods were lifted by Friendly Fires Ed’s emphatic shape-throwing. Hot pink explosions and cheeky LED displays shone out from David Guetta’s euphoric stage. Labrinth showed us that men can also pull off primary colour blocking, bouncing in his canary yellow shorts. Tinie Tempah showcased to all the boys how going shirtless should look. The Enemy proved that they truly are the comeback kids of lad pop-rock, and Tom Jones and The Stone Roses ticked the ‘legend’ box.

Backstage blonde bombshell Rita Ora was patiently signing autographs and posing for fan pictures. Jesse Metcalfe was showing off his tanned tattooed guns in a barely there vest. Conor Maynard proved that men are also obsessed with the galaxy print, and MTV’s Laura Whitmore confessed her day’s sweat struggles in her stylish shirted ensemble.
The only regret from our stonking weekend at Chelmsford is that we weren’t part of the frenzied gang that mobbed One Direction…nor did we manage hunt down Michael Fassbender in hospitality….. next year! Here are some stylish girls we just had to snap:

A chic topknot with a midi dress gives a vintage edge for the folk stage.

Tropical prints will help celebrate the sunshine.

Aztec crop tops can keep you cool in the crowd.

High waisted shorts are essential for partying around the camp fire.
