GUEST BLOG: DIP DYE NAIL TUTORIAL ♥

>> BACK TO HOMEPAGE

Hello, I’m Alice from One Nail To Rule Them All and today I’m going to show you how to create this dip dye look, inspired by Motel’s Dip Dye Collection!

You will need:

Acetone, cotton buds, paintbrush, cosmetic sponge, 2 blue nail varnishes, 1 white nail varnish

Firstly paint your nails white:

Then, colour the sponge in with the 2 blues and the white, allowing the colours to slightly overlap will increase the gradient effect, like so:

Dab any excess off onto a piece of paper and then sponge this onto your nail, it will end up looking quite messy but that’s okay as you will be able to clean it up later, continue to reapply nail varnish to the sponge and then dab it onto your nail until your whole hand is complete, it should end up looking similar to this:

Apply a topcoat whilst the design is still tacky, this will help blend the colours together. When dry, dip the cotton buds into the acetone and clean up the skin around your nails, then dip the paintbrush into the acetone and clean around the outside of your nail to give a smooth line. You should end up with something like this:

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and you give it a try, it’s worth the mess I promise!
